How much does payroll software cost in Switzerland?

In short
Prices vary widely: some providers have fixed monthly packages, others charge per employee or provide a quote. More important than the lowest price is that the software is Swissdec certified. Only then can you report salaries electronically to AHV, insurers and tax authorities. The checked starting prices are in the table below.
How do providers charge?
There are three models: a monthly package for a certain number of people, a price per employee per month, or a quote depending on the project. Read the note on the product page for each plan: it says how many people the price covers.

Why is Swissdec so important?
With the uniform wage reporting procedure (ELM), salary totals go directly from payroll to all connected insurers and authorities, for example the AHV compensation office, tax administration, accident, daily sickness and pension insurers. This only works with Swissdec-certified software. Since 30 June 2026, ELM 5.0 or higher has been required.
